Get ready for a two-year placement, working alongside some of the best engineering experts in any industry today. Get ready to build the skills that will see you emerge as an Automation and Electrical specialist with the potential to step up as a Chartered Engineer working as either a Automation, Controls, Project or Digital Engineer up to Expert level. Get ready to venture out into the world digitally or physically from your base in York as you take on globally-significant projects that will bring big change in our industry.

You’ll join a close-knit group of 24 Engineers taking a diverse, cross-functional approach that’ll see you gain experience of departments including Product, Commercial, Packaging, Workshop, Operations, and the Factory Project Engineering Team. You’ll also contribute to confectionery projects that will encourage you and your group to generate and implement new ideas that will improve the technologies used to make our products every day or even create new ones that could be patented

As you progress, you’ll focus on different areas of the process that takes our technology from ‘maybe-someday’ ideas to the fully-automated systems that are the lifeblood of our operation. And you won’t just be watching – you’ll be living it each and every day. From varied ideation to products testing. Servo and inverter driven actuators. 3D Simulation. The latest PLC and HMI software. Through to Industry 4.0. devices. You’ll be doing it all.

This is an opportunity to spend valuable time with key stakeholders and real engineering experts, doing work that really matters. You’ve got the ideas – this is your chance to really make them count.

Who are we looking for?

Our Engineers work relentlessly to keep our processes running like clockwork. They are problem solvers, remedy makers, visionaries who see problems before they occur. And those are the skills we’re after in you.

To qualify, you’ll need a relevant degree – which means BEng (Hons) with an Electrical, Electronic or Automation or Mechanical specialisation with an interest in Electrical, Electronic, Digital and Automation. What really matters is how ready you are to get to work on your career. And how ready you are to learn what it takes to make the engineering decisions that will shape the future of our business.
