Isabelle Tarsh
Marketing Intern, York

I only joined Nestlé Academy 10 weeks ago, but that’s the length of a summer internship so I’m almost at the end! I’ve been interning in the Marketing department, working on a new brand.

My role mainly entails supporting the team in the run-up to launch, but my main two projects have been creating a sampling plan and designing our internal launch event.

I wanted to get the experience of working for a global business and it doesn’t get much bigger than Nestlé (nearly everyone has Nestlé products in their cupboards!) I applied through the Academy website, had a numerical test, video interview and was invited to an assessment centre, after which I was offered the job!

There’s a real tangible pay-off, working in FMCG Marketing. You’re not working with ideas or concepts, but an actual physical product, so can see your work reflected in it.

The best experience I’ve had was seeing the Commercial Plan for 2019 presented, which really brought together all the different strands of the confectionery business and showed how they all worked together.

I think the role of Community Manager seems really interesting, especially as social media takes on an ever-more crucial role in marketing. Being able to create content in the Content Studio and manage the social presence of large brands is really appealing.

If you’re thinking about joining, just be yourself. It’s easy to think that Nestlé is looking for polished perfection, but I’d say authenticity counts for a lot more.
