Brett Bullman
ISIT Placement, York

I applied for a place on the ISIT Placementthrough the assessment process, which concluded with a group assessment day. I’d decided I wantedto work at Nestlé because there are endless opportunities and it would give me great experience whilst onplacement. Now, I work as part of the Technology Solutions team, where we help support IT issues across the UK and Ireland. I started in June 2018 on a year-long placement.

I have to say, no two days are the same and, with different issues arising daily, there’s always new things to learn. My role also gives me the ability to see different parts of the site, so on any given day I might be doing anything from replacing a computer in one of the factories to helping install software in a chemistry lab.

When I first arrived at the business, the thing that surprised me mostwas how relaxed and friendly everyone is. It doesn’t feel at all like a large organisation where your voice isn’t heard – quite the opposite, as everyone is grateful for the work you do.And, since joining, I’ve been able to strengthen and learn so many life skills, from time management and interpersonal skills toa level ofcritical thinking that I just don’t think I could have accomplished at uni.

Being a placement student at Nestlé Academy allows you to find out what you really want to do in the future by getting involved in different projects around the business and spending time with different teams to get a feel for everything.
